Overview :

A well equipped Library and Information center provides information support to the scientific staff of the laboratory using both archival and contemporary digital resources. Library membership is also open to industrial clients, postgraduates students and faculty members of colleges, universities etc. on payment.

Document collection :

Library has a rich collection of books, journals and non-book materials that includes :

1,33,900 books and bound-volumes of periodicals.

250 current subscriptions to journals.

Chemical Abstracts, since its inception (1907)

Special features :

Fully computerized Library using LIBSYS software for library operations.

Online Public Access catalogue (OPAC) available on NET.

Document Delivery Services.

Electronic access to key periodicals which includes 3300 + STM journals under CSIR consortium Programme.

Electronic access to Ph.D. theses submitted by NCL research students since 2001 and also printed theses since 1950.

Library Services :

The services include access to the library collection, photocopy procurement of articles, patents, translations and online searches. These services are available to NCL members as well as to industrial clients. The Online Public Catalogue for searching the library collection is available on internet.

Timings :

9.00 am - 8.00 pm on working days.

for non-NCL members : 9.30 - 5.00 pm on working days.

Digital Resources :

The digital resources are available on the desktop of the scientists which include Chemical Abstracts, Journal Citation Report, ANTEC(SPE), CBNB, Scopus, J Gate etc. A large number of electronic journals (Current & backfiles) from leading publishers like American Chemical Society, Royal Society of Chemistry, Elsevier Publishers and Wiley Interscience. Journals of general interest like Nature and Science are also available online.
