Current Research Interests Surface functionalization using self-assembled monolayers, monolayer protected hybrid materials and their electrochemistry, single electron charging Surface Modified Semiconducting oxides for Chemical Sensors Development of organo-inorganic composites, activated carbon and carbon nanotube based materials for electrochemical power sources like lithium batteries, ultracapacitors and fuel cells

Achievements Author/Co-author of ~ 100 papers in refereed journals in physical and Materials Chemistry Cited as inventor in 3 US patents, and 15 Indian patents Consultant to Ms. Bharat Electronics Ltd, Pune for their Mg- MnO2 battery plant from 1993-1996 and to Ms. EXIDE Industries, Mumbai, for improving their lead acid batteries during 2000-2001 Received the MRSI Medal by the Materials Research Society of India (1996), the Affiliate Membership of IUPAC in 1997, Scientist of the year award of NCL Research Foundation in 2003 and the Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI) Bronze Medal in (2004); Member of Maharashtra Academy of Sciences (2004)
