Preparation of high surface area activated carbon form coconut shell and their surface treatment with various gases and inorganic material, use of these materials for high-energy storage device, fuel cells and electrochemical sensors, synthesis of carbon nanotube and their functionalization, composite with inorganic materials such as Pd, RuO2 materials for fuel cell and supercapacitor application,

Achievements

  • Initial results with the electrode prepared using coconut shell activated carbon alongwith nanosized Pt particles shows good response for CO. 

 

 

3. TITLE : “Synthesis and Characterization of Metal and Metal Oxide Nanowires and    their Composites”

Duration: 1 year

Brief description of the work

     The objective of the project is to develop methods to prepare nanowires and nanorods of conducting materials (nanowires and nanorods of silver (metal) and, tin oxide and ruthenium oxide (metal oxide) ) in high yield and with high shape selectivity, and to use these nanomaterials in composites with polymers and to optimize the synthetic condition to produce these in high yield and with high shape selectivity.
